Summertime in Georgia.  The heat and humidity is uncomfortable for us, but can be incredibly dangerous for our animal friends.  Heat exhaustion can present in many ways--cows will have open mouth breathing and tongues sticking straight out.  Dogs will pant with a tongue excessively long and will become wobbly when they walk.  Cats will open mouth pant.  Horses will actually get to the point where they cannot sweat.  Colic can occur secondary to heat exhaustion.  Call quickly if you see any of these signs!  Make sure shade is available to all creatures.  Make sure clean fresh water is available as well.
